If you’ve ever looked into getting married among the vineyards of Napa Valley, you might already know just how rare that opportunity actually is. Because of strict local zoning laws, only five wineries in the entire valley are legally permitted to host weddings—and Beringer Vineyards holds one of those coveted spots.
Now, California’s oldest continuously operating winery is elevating that experience. Beringer has teamed up with renowned couture bridal designer Claire Pettibone to completely reimagine the bridal suite inside its historic 1884 Rhine House mansion.
Beringer winery holds a special place in my heart, because it is the winery where I first fell in love with wine when a friend brought me to Napa Valley for the first time to celebrate my 21st birthday. Therefore, the thought of having a wedding here is uniquely enchanting.
So, if you are planning a destination wedding or simply appreciate fine design in wine country, the beauty of the historic Beringer Rhine House mansion and grounds is a perfect choice. And now you will have a perfectly designed bridal suite to enjoy as well.
Beringer Winery Castle – The Historic Rhine House
The first sight of the Beringer Rhine House with its castle-like turrents and pointed roof top, takes your breath away. When you step inside, you are immediately greeted by rich 19th-century craft, from ornate hand-carved woodwork and stained glass windows to broad stone verandas.
This is the beauty and character that designer Claire Pettibone used it as the foundation for the bridal suite transformation, with a focus on:
- Signature Design Elements: Echoing Pettibone’s Los Angeles atelier and New York showroom, the suite features her signature castle mural canvas, a botanical chandelier, plush green seating, and curated antiques accented by soft heirloom lighting.
- An Organic Color Palette: Pettibone drew direct inspiration from the suite’s original stained-glass window, which depicts a harp framed by deep purple, maroon, and cerulean florals. Those hues are woven throughout the room’s botanical textiles and tailored decor.
- Thoughtful Practical Touches: Because the getting-ready hours set the tone for your entire day, the suite is furnished with display mannequins in multiple sizes for both gowns and suits, ensuring attire can be featured and photographed cleanly before the ceremony begins.

Crafting a Seamless Wedding Day Experience at Beringer
As Claire Wilkins, Director of Hospitality at Beringer, points out, holding a rare permit comes with a responsibility to deliver an exceptional guest experience. By collaborating with Pettibone, the winery has created a light-filled, tranquil retreat where you can unwind, take portraits, and soak in the pre-ceremony excitement with your closest circle.
As a tribute to Bridal Market Week and the debut of Pettibone’s latest bridal collection, the space reflects Beringer’s broader commitment to hospitality as it celebrates 150 years of winemaking in St. Helena.
