If you’ve ever stood in a wine aisle staring at French labels, feeling like you needed a degree in viticulture just to pick a bottle for dinner, you’re not alone. France boasts over 300 official wine appellations, each with its own strict rules, regional grape varieties, and historic classifications. It’s rich, fascinating—and undeniably intimidating.

So winemaker Gérard Bertrand, a French native, decided to do something to reduce the intimidation factor and make French wines more accessible to all. Working with his winemaking team, he scoured French vineyards looking for the best expression of grapes from the 10 most famous wine regions.

The result was the introduction of the French Flair Collection, with a mission to “keep the quality, heritage, and sense of place, but lose the pretense.” Currently the collection features the following French wine regions: Bordeaux, Burgundy, Chablis, Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Languedoc, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape (see map below).

Recently, I received a sample of these wines, and over the past few months, I have been able to taste through them. I find myself impressed with the quality, especially given the affordable price points. Ranging from $15 to $50, the wines were introduced to the U.S. wine market in June of 2026.

Favorite Wines from the “French Flair” Collection

  • French Flair Sancerre (Sauvignon Blanc) “L’Elégant” 2025 — This was my favorite of the collection because it is a classic example of the beautiful Sauvignon Blanc wines coming out of Sancerre—one of Taylor Swift’s favorite wine regions. It has exquisite aromas of soft spring flowers and citrus. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant with notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, and mineral, finishing with a crisp, refreshing acidity. 92 points, $36
  • French Flair Chablis (Chardonnay) “Le Lumineux” 2024 — If you enjoy light, crisp Chardonnays without a strong oak influence, you will appreciate the lemon and green apple notes on this wine, along with a hint of chalky minerality. 90 points, $26
  • French Flair Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc “The Charmer” 2024 — A very dry, clean, and zesty Sauvignon Blanc with lemon and honeydew melon notes. It finishes with a hint of green grass and wet stone. Excellent to pair with goat cheese, vegetables, or oysters. 89 points, $22
  • French Flair Châteauneuf-du-Pape “The Generous” 2022 — For people who enjoy big, jammy red wines with higher alcohol content, this wine is powerful and robust. It is brimming with mixed berries, spicy toasty oak, and warm earthy notes, leading to a warming finish. 88 points, $45

Other wines in the collection include three more whites:

  • Pouilly-Fumé (2024) | “The Harmonious” — Fresh, Flinty, Refined
  • Bourgogne Chardonnay (2024) | “The Mineral” — Crisp, Balanced, Graceful
  • Languedoc White Blend (2025) (Grenache Blanc, Rolle, Roussanne) | “The Graceful” — Bright, Aromatic, Balanced

And three more reds:

  • Bourgogne Pinot Noir (2023) | “The Mysterious” — Elegant, Delicate, Complex
  • Bordeaux Red (2022) (Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot) | “The Classic” — Structured, Plush, Powerful
  • Languedoc Red Blend (2023) (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre) | “The Radiant” — Bold, Sun-Drenched, Generous
