There are many wineries in the US that are known for their innovative wine events, such as lobster dinners, dog walks through the vineyard, and colorful holiday wine-themed parties, but no one can compete with Jordan Winery’s Annual Halloween Party. Each autumn, members of the wine trade and special clients pray they receive an invitation to attend. If they don’t, they can request a position on the waitlist, and hope someone cancels. But this rarely happens.
Unusual Invitations Part of Jordan Winery’s Appeal
Part of the pleasure in receiving an invitation to Jordan’s Halloween party is the novelty of the invitation itself. For example:
- Halloween 2018 – Denial on the Nile – Invitation was a ceramic coffin with a mummy inside. The invitation was wrapped around the mummy.
- Halloween 2019 – Animale – Invitation inside a box of animal crackers.
- Halloween 2020 – cancelled due to Covid
- Halloween 2021 – Alien Invasion – Invitation was a party light. When you plugged it in, the invitation was cast onto the ceiling in sparkling color lights.
Wine, Food, Music, and Cocktails Flow Freely at Jordan Winery
No one is allowed into the winery unless they have a costume. Once inside, the stainless steel wine tanks and barrels are decorated in the theme of the evening. Bars are set up in many locations, with exquisite Jordan wines poured all evening. Food is generous, and often consists of oysters on the half-shell, shrimp, pulled pork, cheeses, desserts, and many other delicacies. Creative cocktails are also served.
A DJ plays lively dance music, and by the end of the evening, everyone is on the cellar floor dancing the night away. John Jordan usually makes an appearance, along with the rest of the Jordan staff — and all are wearing the best themed costumes of the evening.
